WCO Play AfternoonWirral Community Orchestra held its first ever play day! This historic event took place on Saturday 29th February Afternoon at 2pm. The rehearsal was open to everyone and was followed by a short Concert Performance at 7:30pm in the evening. The day was a great success with a brilliant time had by all players as we shared music, cofffee, tea and cake together playing Rimsky-Korsakov’s Night on a Bare Mountain, Prokofiev’s The Montagues and Capulets from Romeo and Juliet Suite No. 2, and an arrangement of Jarre’s Lawrence of Arabia. A tremndous achievement for WCO players and guest players, led by our ever patient Musical Director, John Modelski. The event culminated in an evening performance of the three pieces with a retiring collection for Pancreatic Cancer, which raised the fantastic amount of £137.54 . After the performance, several players celebrated the success of the event with a meal together in a local restaurant. All agreed it was such a great occassion that we hope to make it an annual event - so whatch out for the next one and come and join in the muisc making. |
